Dudu-Osun Black Soap; Does It Work?

Hello everyone,
I have known about Dudu Osun soap for a really long time now, back when I was in secondary school I used to exchange my soap for it haha! I love how it lathers and I also love the smell, I also remember my friend telling me then it's very good for the face and skin problem but I didn't pay attention to her because she was one of those ITK people(back then anyway). Anyway Dudu Osun is made in Nigeria but I'm not sure why it is called African black soap.

So this was how I reunited with the black soap again, I've been having some issues with acne for months now and I was looking into trying the Mario Badescu acne care kit but then fortunately/unfortunately for me it was sold out like forever.. and then I went Google-ing and I somehow stumble on the black soap--you know the rest, I kept reading reviews, seems it does do somethings afterall(my friend was right). Sorry for the long ramblings..
I've been using this soap for about four months now and I've seen results, good results, for the first 2-3 weeks honestly I didn't notice any changes but afterwards I noticed my skin became less oily and my acne had reduced, I only get a pop or two pimples. I did read some reviews where people said this lightened their skin, well it didn't do that for me, I also read it lightens scars -that was a NO for me.

I use this every night after cleansing my face with the Olay Cleansing System, I apply to wet face and rub in circular motion then leave it to soak in for 3-4 minutes and I wash off - it dries up the skin so this is probably most suitable for people with oily/combination skin- it is also a great cleanser it gives this squeaky clean feel.It is one of those store in a dry place kinda soap.

I really love this soap, didn't break me out, doesn't clog pores, leaves my skin clean and tight, it is cheap and quite economical, I've been using just a bar and it's still not up to half. Recommended if you have oily/acne prone skin but if you are not patient don't bother, it take time to see results.

You can find this practically anywhere in Nigeria but if you are outside it is available on amazon and eBay, there is also another brand of black soap available on iherb

Have you tried Dudu-Osun soap before? or any similar soap? Let me know if it worked for you!! Have a fabulous day!

  2. Nice review. I love Dudu Osun too. I use it for my face and body. It really helped with my acne especially on my back. I really like how it's versatile. You can use it for almost anything. Some people even use it as a shampoo bar.

  3. What a seriously interesting product! I've only been recently trying more bar soaps, I've never used any before on my face! I love the idea of 'black soaps' as usually in asia it's charcoal or some kind of purifying ingredient but that's a new one for me! I'm currently holding a giveaway on my blog! Do feel free to join!

  9. Dudu Osun African black soap is definitely a good brand, but I do alternate between this brand and the product from Shea moisture. Price wise, the brand you reviewed is cheaper and might be more authentic since it is manufactured at the country where all the natural ingredients are sourced.
