Is It Really A Miracle Sponge?!

Hello beauties,

Let's just call this my first official makeup sponge, ya! I did tried those ones from eBay and it was pure torture, it was like I was hitting a stone on my face and at the end of it all the sponge soaks up all the products.  After my experience with those I just gave up lol, honestly RM 72($20+) is a bit steep for me to spend on a sponge (original beauty blender)... but eh! the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is half the price- so I thought why not try that?!
The sponge is not shaped like the other sponges, I find the shape quite interesting. Rounded sides blend large areas of the face with a repeated dabbing or “stippling” motion. Precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections. Flat edge for the contours around the eyes and nose. (source realtechniques.com). So you can get to all areas of the face.

The texture is soft (feels like it can tear up easily), like the original beauty blender the size also doubles and it gets softer when damp, so you can actually just spray facial mist onto the sponge instead. I find that the sponge soaks up less foundation if you dab the foundation on the face first rather than applying directly with the sponge (so dab the product on the face and blend out with the sponge). I also noticed that the damp sponge is actually too soft and doesn't perform well, so I personally prefer to spray with a mist rather that soaking in water.

It does help achieve a nice natural looking airbrushed finish, can be used to apply most products, foundations, powders, cream bronzers/highlighters... Keeping it clean is actually easy and simple, just same way I clean my makeup brushes, the main trick is wash after use or at least same day so the dirt won't settle in.
I'm still warming up to this sponge but I prefer my brush for now(this may change with time tho), I love it for blending concealer more. It is a nice sponge to have in your collection, if you think the beauty blender is too pricey you might try this out--well I've read reviews that the original beauty blender is not dupe-able but this is a nice sponge to try. A part of me still wants the BB tho.

Have you tried the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge?! What are your thoughts? Have a fabulous day!

  3. Like you I actually tried a sponge similar to this, it took up so much product and so much time to apply the makeup. I prefer my brush but maybe I'll try this out one of these days.

  6. I haven't used either sponges or any sponges yet! I totally need to give these sponges a go but I'm just so happy with the finish that my fingers and a brush gives me. I always find that the sponge looks more difficult and then it seems much harder to get totally clean (and I'm a clean freak with my brushes and powder puffs) Thanks for the review girl, I'm totally considering trying this one out!
